Basha Uhuru Sounds of Freedom Music Festival – 13 September 2025

Written by Anastatia Nkhuna

It’s about time you listened to iQHAWE MAGAZINE plugging you with a good event. We might sound prideful when we say we have taste but that’s why we’re the ultimate tastemakers for the Basha Uhuru Sounds of Freedom Music Festival this year.

The festival is warming up and ready to flow into the summer season. Are you free on the 13th of September 2025? It’s the 13th edition of this iconic music event, and we think you should come and have fun with us!

As always, Basha Uhuru is committed to providing platforms for up-and-coming artists and fresh talent, while also bringing you local megastars. The music festival opens at 10h00, and festival-goers can enjoy a full day at the Curated Market with live music and performances, activations, food stalls, and bars.

This year’s lineup includes KHULI CHANA | QUE DJ | THANDO ZIDE | DJ CNDO | PABI COOPER | TOSS | KID FONQUE | MANANA | AMONGST THE PEOPLE I KNOW | JAH SEED & THE ADMIRAL, and many more.

You can also look forward to a guest performance from this year’s Basha Uhuru Music Legacy Award winner none other than BOOM SHAKA.

Now do you understand why we opened this article by saying it’s about time? Because yes, it’s about time you listen to BOOM SHAKA. Did you know Boom Shaka’s first single “It’s About Time” was released in 1993? What do you know about that, Lebo?

In case you missed it in the lineup, did you see that DJ CNDO will be performing? Hearing *Amerido* or *Yamnandi Into* played by the finest lady of House herself, would heal you instantly. All while whining our waists to some reggae with Jah Seed and The Admiral or, for the amapiano warriors, sizo yenz’ umlando in the words of Toss.

If we haven’t influenced you to buy your ticket and join us in celebrating the legacy of creative expression, then we might have failed. Khuli Chana may even have to change his lyrics to “More Hunger” because no ticket sales = no food on the table for our talented artists. (Cue melancholic piano music).

Is this emotional blackmail? Maybe.

If you think we did a good job convincing you, secure your ticket on Webtickets now!
