The BIRKENSTOCK Boston is Worn, Lived In And Made Uniquely Your Own.

We often joke that, are you really a creative if you don’t own a pair of BIRKENSTOCKs? For many of us, they have become something of a uniform. The perfect shoe for almost every creative endeavour. Whether you’re walking around set for hours while still wanting to look stylish, travelling and exploring a new city on foot, or simply moving through the everyday, there is something dependable about slipping into a pair on the daily.Perhaps that is why it feels only fitting that the BIRKENSTOCK Boston has endured for the past 50 years. The silhouette has earned its place as one of the world’s most recognisable and beloved shoes.

We recently had the pleasure of spending the day with the Sportscene team to celebrate the Boston and engage with the shoe in the way it was always intended to be experienced: in motion. Beautifully styled in our own pairs, we moved comfortably through different pop-ups and events throughout the day.

What we loved most about our experience was that it was led by the shoe’s practicality. The Boston doesn’t demand a special occasion. It simply fits into your life. It is an everyday essential that continues to define effortless style through exceptional comfort, timeless design and an enduring relevance that spans generations, cultures and lifestyles.

While trends come and go, the Boston remains exactly what it has always been: honest, functional and unmistakably iconic. After 50 years, one thing remains unchanged: The Boston is still the everyday icon.

The 50th celebration of the Boston brought together 50 creatives, professionals and storytellers, each individual represents a distinct perspective, personality, passion and way of life.

Spanning the worlds of fashion, art, sport, photography and culture, the cast includes award-winning designer Sindiso Khumalo, sustainable fashion advocate Masego Morgan, Big Wave World Champion Cass Collier, multidisciplinary artist and designer Chris Koch, acclaimed photographer and filmmaker Nkateko Mondhlana, and self-proclaimed cat lady Ann McGregor.

Together, they capture the many ways the BOSTON is worn, lived in and made uniquely one’s own.
