As the brand expands, JD Sports celebrates the opening of its second store at Eastgate Shopping Centre.
10 December 2024. marked the grand opening of JD Sports’ second location in Johannesburg, situated in the prime retail hub of Eastgate Shopping Centre. Spanning 495 square metres, the new store boasts cutting-edge retail design that merges sleek modern aesthetics with functional enhancements, offering customers an elevated shopping experience.
JD Sports, a global leader in branded sports and casual wear, brings its signature style to South Africa by combining internationally recognised brands like Nike, Adidas, New Balance, The North Face, and Under Armour, with a unique customer proposition.
Highlighting its commitment to South African talent, JD Sports collaborated with local artists Boemo and Lorenzo Plaatjies, creating a vibrant mural at The Beach Wall in Braamfontein. This project seamlessly connects JD’s global sportswear heritage with local art and culture.
The Eastgate store opening is being celebrated with a host of in-store events, including a ribbon-cutting ceremony, giveaways, a customisation station, live music by DJs such as Lelowhatsgood, Ponahalo, Tnx, Alex Michaelson and many more , with appearances by athletes and influencers.
Rooted in its ethos of family and community, JD Sports promises an immersive experience throughout the week, including gifts with purchases over R500 in addition to daily activations:
– Wednesday, 11 December: Shoelace customisation powered by adidas, live music, and sneaker cleaning.
– Thursday, 12 December: Live painting and giveaways powered by New Balance, DJ sets, and sneaker cleaning.
– Friday, 13 December: Tote bag customisation powered by Nike, live music, and sneaker cleaning.
The store will remain open until 9:00 PM on Friday, concluding the opening week with style.
